Glitch Works R6501Q/R6511Q Single Board Computer

We are currently waiting on a new RAM board design and cannot currently supply RSC FORTH Configuration 3 bundles.

The Glitch Works R6501Q/R6511Q Single Board Computer (SBC) is designed to support Rockwell's single-chip microcomputer processors in QUIP-64 (double zig-zag) packages. These processors contain an enhanced 6502 processor core, 192 bytes of onboard static RAM, hardware serial communications channel, up to 32 bits of parallel I/O, and two counter/timer modules.

The R65X1Q SBC is designed to work with the Rockwell R6501Q, R6511Q, R6501AQ, or R6511AQ. The SBC provides the following features:

1. 32 KB static RAM, compatible with Ferroelectric RAM (FeRAM)
2. 32 KB ROM, EEPROM, or FeRAM in 4K pages, in-board programmable
3. Serial console via onboard UART
4. ROM paging and switch-out
5. Debounced reset and power supply supervisory circuit
6. Glitchbus expansion header
7. Glitchbus I/O mapped as a 256 byte memory page at 0xEF00

A full assembly and user's manual, including schematics, is available as a PDF download. Additionally, full parts kits and assembled units include a customized and enhanced version of Steve Wozniak's 6502 ROM monitor (link to sources provided below).

The default software load includes a 32K ROMFS image with:

1. eWoz 1.2 for Glitch Works R65X1Q SBC
2. Tiny BASIC customized for Rockwell R65X1Q
3. Rockwell RSC-FORTH 1.7 configuration 2
4. A modified version of the Ohio Scientific memory test

Updates to default ROMFS software loads are provided as a hex loadable file which allows in-system updates of the EEPROM, removing the need for an EPROM programmer.

Parts Kit Contents

The Full Parts Kit option includes all components (or equivalent substitutions) as shown in the pictures for this listing. They are also listed in the assembly and user's manual PDF. Currently we're shipping R6501Q processors and a 2 MHz crystal, which results in a 1 MHz PHI2 system clock.

The SBC can be expanded via Glitchbus, but the Full Parts Kit option does not include a Glitchbus header. Contact us if you'd like to see that made an option!

RSC-FORTH Configuration 3 Bundle

The Rockwell RSC-FORTH configuration 3 bundle includes:

1. Glitchbus 32K RAM board, kit or assembled, with RAMs
2. Stacking headers, standoffs, and related hardware
3. EEPROM preloaded with RSC-FORTH configuration 3

Rockwell RSC-FORTH configuration 3 requires additional memory not present on the R65X1Q SBC. It includes a larger user workspace for Forth programs. Consult the RSC-FORTH User's Manual for full details.
