Glitch Works XT-IDE rev 4B

For sale is the current revision of the Glitch Works XT-IDE, rev 4B. This is a hobbyist offering of our industrial IDE solution for PCs. It is available as a bare board, full parts kit, or assembled and tested. Revision 4B changes are minor and are mostly to ease assembly.

Kits are intended for the vintage computer hobbyist who already has a grasp of soldering and wishes to assemble their own XT-IDE rev 4B controller. All required parts are included, you supply the solder and tools. If you would like just the bare board (you supply all components), please see our other listings. Fully assembled and tested controllers are also available.

For kits and assembled boards, component selection may differ slightly from those pictured.

This project is 100% open source hardware, licensed under the GNU GPL v3. You can find the source files for the board layout, schematics, jumper setting diagrams, and a complete Bill of Materials on the GitHub page (use the design files link).

This is a new made, high quality PC board with the following features:

1. Standard 0.062" thickness FR4 substrate
2. Selective hard gold plated edge connector (much thicker than ENIG)
3. 45 degree edge chamfer for easier card insertion
4. HASL surface finish with leaded solder for easy solderability
5. All components and settings described in silkscreen legend
6. Fully open source -- board schematics and layout available on GitHub

The XT-IDE works with the XT-IDE Universal BIOS, another completely open source project, to provide IDE hard disk support for vintage computers with 8-bit IDE busses. These include the IBM 5150 PC, IBM 5160 PC/XT, and many compatible clones.

We ship kits and preassembled boards with EEPROMs pre-programmed with the XT-IDE Universal BIOS v1.1.5 configured for I/O at 0x300 (default).
