39 Button Remote Control with Atmega328PB

What is it?

This item is a NEW (old stock) 39 Button remote controls CKR91S1 and CRK91HH1 (please choose when ordering). The micro controller has been replaced with an Atmega328PB. The ISP programming access is present in the front of the remote. Programming is performed using a Pogo pin adapter, included with the purchase while quantities last.

Why did you make it?

The older remote control device codes do not support modern electronics, and therefore they are obsolete. Instead of the remote ending up in a landfill somewhere, now you can re-purpose the remote with a modern powerful, low power 32K micro controller!

What makes it special?

Now you can program any codes, protocols, devices into this remote using the included source code. There are no limits.

This remote is a 39 button 3 device remote. It is lightweight when compared to various universal remotes. The keypad is very well laid out when compared to other remote controls. Every single remote is tested before shipping to ensure it is working and is sterilized before packaging. The remote will be ready to use once it is programmed with the correct codes.

Sample source code (assembly only, no Arduino source) is included with the purchase of this remote.

The source code includes six of the most common IR Protocols used today, NEC, NEC2, REC80, SONY12, NECrnc, and DISHIR using 3 carrier frequencies, 38 KHz, 40 KHz and 57 KHz. I will be adding more protocols upon request. The source code is very well commented and is simple to edit the command table for each command. You do not have to change the source code if you are using one of the protocols listed above, just type in the commands and program the remote. In order to find the commands for your existing remote, you will need to capture each command using an IR decoder available here.

Information needed in order to program this remote:

1. The IR protocol used. (most modern electronics these days use the NEC protocol).
2. The IR command or sometimes called OBC (or original button code).
3. The System or Device code.

You need an ISP programmer that supports the Atmega328PB (not included).

The Code Set function is not enabled in the new firmware. This means that the remote does not support code entry as the original universal remote did.
