Program Microchip AVR devices without the need for a computer during production or field updates.
The AVR/ATmega/ATtiny Standalone ISP Programmer stores your firmware, EEPROM data, fuse settings, and lock bits internally, allowing you to repeatedly program compatible AVR devices without reconnecting to a PC.
Simply load your HEX files and configuration once using a terminal program (Tera Term is recommended), then switch the programmer into standalone mode just by installing a jumper.
This makes it an ideal solution for production programming, bootloader installation, product servicing, and firmware updates.

The programmer is especially useful for programming bootloaders into new AVR devices.
Simply load the bootloader firmware and fuse settings once, then program multiple chips in just seconds without reconnecting to a computer.
This greatly simplifies repetitive programming tasks and helps reduce production time.
Simple Setup
A computer is only required during the initial configuration.
Using a terminal application such as Tera Term, you can load the required HEX files and configure which operations (Flash, EEPROM, Fuses, and Lock Bits) will be performed. Once configured, install jumper J1 to enable standalone mode.
The programmer retains all programming data in non-volatile memory until you choose to replace it.
Designed from Real-World Experience
This programmer was originally developed in 2008 to solve a practical problem: programming a solar-powered sensing device located over 350 feet from the nearest power source.
Carrying a laptop, power supply, and programming equipment into the field was inconvenient, so a portable standalone programmer was designed instead.
Since then, the design has gone through seven generations of refinement, adding support for additional AVR devices while maintaining the simplicity and reliability that made the original so useful.
Today, it has been used successfully thousands of times for both development and production programming.
