JPx USB Programming Cable

What is it?

A USB cable for use with various freeware software to program JPx infrared universal remotes. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message.

Why did you make it?

I couldn't find a reliable cable for programming various remotes. Some of the cheaper chipsets used in various USB cables are not reliable at all. After I bricked a remote using a cheap cable, I decided to put together a dependable cable that will last a very long time under normal use. With some cables the wires are easily ripped from the connector when unplugging the cable from the remote.

What makes it special?

This cable is made with a small extender circuit board that allows you to connect the cable to remotes where the connector is set in deeper from the remote cover. The small board gives you something sturdy to grasp while unplugging the cable, so you don't have to unplug the cable by pulling on the wires! The extender board will ensure that the wires won't be ripped out of the connector when you unplug the cable from the remote.

Every single cable is hand soldered and tested on a remote control before it is shipped.

This cable is powered by the USB port but does not supply power to the remote control.

When using this cable, the remote control must have batteries installed.

Using various freeware available on the internet, you can successfully program compatible remotes using the 6 pin header found under the battery cover on most remotes. In order to find the commands for your existing remote, you will need to capture each command using an IR decoder available here. You can also use a Standalone Decoder (no PC required).
