TLV320AIC3204 Stereo Line-Level Audio Codec

What is it?

This module is a breadboard-compatible carrier for the TLV320AIC3204 stereo audio codec designed for line-level operation. It is controlled and configured by a I2C connection via a Stemma QT / Qwiic compatible connector. Audio data is driven using a bidirectional I2S bus. Compatible specifically with CircuitPython. (MicroPython and Arduino could also be supported, but libraries don't yet exist.)

Why did you make it?

This codec is your gateway into the analog audio world from a microcontroller or single board computer. I did my best to design it for optimal audio quality with isolated power supplies with high performance operation in mind.

What makes it special?

This codec is a great way to get started playing around with bidirectional audio. I've developed a supplemental CircuitPython driver library which makes operating the codec very simple. No need to analyze datasheets and investigate registers for hours on end!
